UKTI and The British Aviation Group hosted a CAAC delegation to the UK, on Tuesday 8 June 2010 the CAAC delegates gave an overview on their latest airport development plans in the current economic climate in China and also covered emergency rescue and aviation fuel.

There are 160 commercial airports in China (exclusive of Hong Kong and Macao) providing 152 regular flights. In addition, there are 71 airports with general aviation certificates, and 319 airports that can accommodate temporary take-off/ landing for general aviation. In early January 2008, the State Council approved the China Civil Airport Outline (2020). As per the plan, there will be 244 airports operating in China by 2020, including 13 airports with annual passenger capacity over
30m, and 6 airports for 20m-30m, and 10 airports for 10m-20m.
