About this event

Join ADS Group and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) for a full-day Aerospace Research & Technology Forum, bringing together aerospace industry leaders, SMEs, research organisations, and technology innovators for a day of insight, collaboration, and connection.

Hosted with NPL, the UK’s national measurement institute and one of the world’s leading centres for science and innovation, this event will showcase how advanced research, metrology, and emerging technologies can support the future of UK aerospace.

The day will be structured in two parts: a morning conference session open to the wider aerospace community, followed by an afternoon programme of lab visits, research matchmaking.

Whether you are looking to explore technical capability, understand current R&T priorities, identify partners, or build new collaboration opportunities, this event will provide a valuable platform to engage with key players across the aerospace innovation ecosystem.

Why attend?

This event is designed to help attendees:

  • Discover NPL’s capabilities and their relevance to the aerospace sector
  • Hear from experts on current and emerging R&T priorities
  • Connect with aerospace peers, SMEs, research organisations, and primes
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration through facilitated matchmaking
  • Gain access to selected NPL laboratories and specialist facilities.

What to expect

Morning conference sessions

This will be followed by a series of short presentations from NPL and invited speakers covering topics of direct relevance to the aerospace sector, including:

  • Metrology for aerospace
  • Sensing and autonomy
  • Reducing aviation’s non-CO2 climate impact
  • Quantum technologies, time and resilience for aerospace and space applications
  • Networking lunch.

Lab visits and speed workshops

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit a selection of NPL laboratories and specialist facilities through a series of focused afternoon sessions. During registration, attendees will be able to indicate which areas are of most interest to support planning and allocation.

Potential lab areas include:

  • Advanced materials
  • Mass metrology
  • Tooling & large-scale manufacturing
  • Electrochemistry
  • Electromagnetic technologies
  • Temperature & humidity
  • Environmental testing chambers
  • Quantum
  • Time
  • Research matchmaking.

A facilitated matchmaking session will bring together SMEs, primes, research organisations, and academia, providing a focused opportunity to explore potential collaborations with researchers. Participants will be able to discuss shared challenges, identify areas of mutual interest, and form new R&T connections that could support future innovation.
