For over 30 years, the team has been manufacturing high performance surveillance assets from its site in Hampshire and their next generation ultra-low light level long range product (ULARI) is the subject of this award.
Sesanti's innovation, first conceived in 2016, operates at the limits of what is possible in classical physics. The technology uses high-speed processing and new algorithms to extract high quality imagery from very few photons.
The optical system could not achieve the performance alone without the closely coupled processing algorithms. It has been developed specifically for security applications but also has humanitarian and search & rescue uses. The equipment is designed to aid saving lives, enabling safer operating distances than can currently be achieved. The innovation has improved low light level capability at range by an order of magnitude.
Sesanti have already sold many millions of pounds worth of systems and have interest from customers both in the UK and overseas. This technology, which works alongside Sesanti's other patented innovations, puts it at the forefront of electro-optic design and development in the UK.
