Skills and Workforce Shortages Working Group

Special interest group

WHAT IS THE SKILLS AND WORKFORCE SHORTAGES WORKING GROUP (SWSG)?

Tackling the workforce challenges our sectors face today and the skills requirements for the future requires a collaborative approach. The Skills and Workforce Shortages Working Group (SWSG) will bring together ADS members across our sectors and partner organisations to agree campaign priorities and engagement activity and will represent the interests of our members when engaging with influential stakeholders.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE GROUP?

The SWSG aims to support ADS in identifying the issues and barriers impacting the skills and workforce shortage issues for the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors. It will provide a cross sector view of skills activity including AGP and DSF initiatives to gain awareness and share knowledge.

The Skills and Workforce Shortages Committee will:

  • Represent the interests of the membership to UK government departments, regional governments, local authorities and other identified influential stakeholders.
  • Provide the primary focus to consult on ADS' skills and workforce shortages campaign, including objectives, policy positions, engagement activities and success metrics.
  • Campaigns will follow an evidence-based approach and as such the group will share case studies and information such as employment, vacancy and inhouse skills initiatives data to develop compelling campaigns that deliver our key aims successfully.
  • Terms of reference (ToR) can be found here.
