The Sustainable Aviation coalition is today publishing its Carbon Road-Map: A path to Net Zero, which sets out the UK aerospace and aviation industries' commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, and the strategy to achieve this goal.

The coalition includes companies and trade associations from across the aerospace and aviation sectors, including ADS, Airbus, Rolls Royce, British Airways, NATS and Heathrow.

Commenting on publication of the report, ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said:

“The aerospace industry accepts its responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of flying. Aerospace manufacturers are investing in the technologies to de-carbonise aviation and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

“The aerospace industry has a clear strategy; further improvement in products flying today, introduction of sustainable aviation fuels at scale and revolutionary new hybrid and electric propulsion systems to power a new generation of aircraft.

“The UK has an important role in delivering sustainable aviation and creating new industrial opportunities for our world leading aerospace industry.”
