Cardiff Airport concludes successful UK Airports Safety Week
The airport-led initiative - UK Airports Safety Week which ran until 20th May and took place across over 50 UK airports - aims to promote and demonstrate the importance of safety to the airport team, visitors and customers alike.
Cardiff Airport were again supportive of the initiative and have just wrapped up a full seven day activity programme involving staff, passengers and a visiting school ‘Ygsol Pen-Y-Garth', who won a visit to the airport through a banner design competition won by student Cara McLellan.
The terminal featured numerous stands for passengers to engage with: Welsh Hearts and St. John’s Cymru delivered CPR and defibrillation demonstrations and Malpeet K9 Academy discussed the need for detection dogs.
Staff were able to join in with many activities, including the pushback of an aircraft, customer service workshops with Hijinx Theatre, and even a yoga and meditation session, promoting wellbeing at work.
Cardiff Airport’s Head of Airfield Operations, Russell Clements, officially launched the week’s events. He said: “It is a pleasure to support the AOA’s UK Airports Safety Week for the third year running, building on the success of the last two years. Safety and security is our number one priority at Cardiff Airport and we are focused on building a strong safety culture. Each member of the team plays a key role in understanding and implementing measures that affect our delivery of safety and security.”
