This morning ministers Matthew Hancock MP and Philip Dunne MP opened the new UK Defence Solutions Centre (DSC) in Farnborough.
The UK DSC is an example of how Industrial Strategy, in this case the Defence Growth Partnership (DGP), supports innovation by bringing together industry to create tailored solutions that will enable UK companies to address challenges and pursue opportunities more effectively.
The Centre is a first for the defence industry, with experts from companies throughout the UK working in a pre-competitive, ‘hub’ environment. It will promote long-term investment decisions which in turn will strengthen the country’s ability to remain globally competitive.
Being able to demonstrate how industry is fully engaged in the development of world-class defence capability enables the sector to grow the UK’s export market, something which is crucial to securing our future as a high-tech, high-skill, high-wage economy.
We are calling on all political parties and the next government to commit to supporting and developing successful Industrial Strategies in order to sustain and attract the long-term industrial investment that the UK needs by Investing in Growth.
