Showing positive signs of recovery, UK travellers will be able to take advantage of LATAM’s reinstated service to Brazil's vibrant and largest Portuguese-speaking city, São Paulo, from 3rd December 2021.
The flight will operate four times weekly initially, departing London Heathrow Airport T3 (LHR) at 20:35 LT and arriving into São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) at 05:20+1 day LT.
Providing a last-minute opportunity for winter sun seekers and those who enjoy a slice of authentic South American gastronomy and culture, travellers will fly on a Boeing 777 aircraft.
The last LATAM flight departed London on 17th January 2021 before government restrictions were put in place between the UK and Brazil due to the pandemic.
Joao Murias, LATAM Airlines Regional Commercial Director said: "We are proud to reconnect London to São Paulo, and from there to all of South America. The demand as soon as the news broke that we were back in operation has been incredible, which reinforces that our commitment to connecting the UK to South America is more topical than ever."
LATAM Airlines has been bringing Latin America closer to the UK for the past 10 years and from its hub, passengers can connect to over 120 destinations across the region in 25 countries. Taking advantage of the UK’s pent up and increased travel demand, in addition to the government's recent lift on travel restrictions and positive changes to the traffic light system, LATAM will gradually recover its operations in Europe and beyond in the coming months.
Earlier this year, LATAM launched its sustainability strategy committed to environmental and economic development. Titled 'A necessary destination', the strategy follows a sustainable roadmap that aims to eliminate single-use plastics by 2023, become a zero waste to landfill company by 2027, offset carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. These key initiatives will be supported by additional projects such as converting its VIP lounges into 100% sustainable spaces and expanding its recycling program for LATAM uniforms and other aviation-based materials.
In addition, LATAM Airlines have also developed its exceptional health and safety standards to provide additional reassurance and peace of mind to passengers as travel resumes. These efforts were recognised earlier this year by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) who awarded LATAM with a Diamond rating - the highest of the APEX Health Safety standard and the first airline group in Latin American to obtain this recognition.
