Today ADS has launched our 2017 Facts and Figures guide illustrating the scale of our industries’ contribution to the UK economy; showing continued growth across the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space industries and further global growth opportunities.

The UK’s Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space industries make a significant and valuable contribution to both our economic prosperity and national security.  Last year, the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space sectors generated £72bn for the UK economy, including some £37bn of exports, and employed over 360,000 people and 11,000 apprentices.

Investing in innovation, skills and supply chains, our members contribute to growth in communities in every part of the UK. They compete successfully in global markets, create high value jobs and apprenticeships, and are pioneers of cutting edge technology.

Released annually, the ADS Industry Facts and Figures guide sets out the strength of our sectors, their contribution to the UK’s growth and how industry and government – working together – can deliver the well-paid jobs and high-tech exports we need to secure a prosperous future.

The guide also outlines how the government and industry are working together on initiatives that are enabling companies to succeed through a number of sector partnerships: Aerospace Growth Partnership (AGP); Defence Growth Partnership (SRGP); Security and Resilience Growth Partnership (SRGP); and Space Innovation Growth Strategy.

Finally, the guide also highlights a number of key priorities for our sectors, calling on the government – following last week’s General Election – to work with industry to maximise global growth opportunities through a step change in UK productivity.

In the coming week, daily blogs from the ADS Policy Advisers will expand on some of the great work that is happening in each of the ADS sectors.
