ADS members are invited to join James Gavin, Deputy Director for UK Defence Innovation (UKDI), for an exclusive awareness briefing examining the first of several strategic capability areas expected to shape defence investment over the coming years.

This closed session will provide a deeper insight into UKDI's emerging priorities and the role of co-investment between government and industry in developing sovereign UK capabilities that can be exploited at scale through Defence Investment Plan-funded programmes of record. The briefing will focus on specific capability areas of interest and provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with UKDI's thinking around future requirements and investment opportunities.

Topics expected to be covered include

  • Mitigating the threat posed by small uncrewed aerial systems (S-UAS) to Forward Land Forces
  • Protecting fixed sites from large one-way attack (OWA) drones
  • Developing sovereign UK capabilities for small Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) and ultra long-range, low-cost one-way attack drones
  • Heavy-lift VTOL uncrewed systems
  • Enhancing Forward Land Forces' ability to sense, decide, effect, protect, provide medical support and conduct deception activities, including through the use of uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs)
  • Protecting critical undersea infrastructure, with a particular focus on uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs).

This event will be of particular interest to organisations involved in autonomous systems, counter-UAS solutions, advanced manufacturing, defence technology, robotics, AI-enabled capabilities, and future operational concepts.

Attendance is limited to ADS members, and the event will conclude with networking drinks.
