What is the ADS SW Advisory Council
The ADS South West (ADS SW) Advisory Council (“the Council”) is established to provide independent, regionally representation, strategic input and connectivity. The Council will provide ADS SW with guidance and insight to help shape its activity and services provided to members in the South West’s aerospace, defence, security and space sectors.
The Council will:
- To act as a convening body that champions the South West
- Represent the interests of the regional ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on SMEs
- Ensure that the ADS SW regional offering is aligned to the key industrial sectors within the South West, recognising the region’s strengths in aerospace, defence, security and space.
- Strengthen connectivity between ADS and local stakeholders
- Support the development of initiatives that drive growth, innovation and competitiveness
The Council is advisory only and does not have executive or decision-making authority
What are the Council's Objectives
The long-term objective of the Council shall be to provide a single entity with capability of truly representing all companies, irrespective of size and experience, wishing to develop and grow their business in the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors. The Council will achieve this by:
- Advising ADS on regional priorities and challenges affecting members
- Providing insight into SME needs, supply chain issues and market conditions
- Provide strategic insight into regional economic, industrial and skills priorities
- Support ADS SW to connect with regional stakeholders enabling a focus on activities, events and policies, across the multiple clusters within the region
- Identifying opportunities for collaboration, innovation and growth
- Acting as a sounding Council for ADS SW plans and initiatives
What is the Scope of the Council
The Council will focus on:
- Aerospace, defence, security and space sectors within the South West
- SME growth, capability development and market access
- Skills and workforce development
- Supply chain resilience and competitiveness
- Innovation, R&D and technology adoption
- Regional economic development and inward investment
