“Sir Richard joined the Raytheon UK board as a non-executive director in September 2015 following several years as the head of UK Trade and Investment’s Defence and Security Organisation, where he developed considerable expertise in aerospace, defence and security exports,” said Richard Daniel, Chief Executive and Managing Director, Raytheon UK. “He has a wealth of connections and unrivalled experience in defence exports and will chair the board at a time when the company is pursuing a wide range of international business opportunities and expanding its footprint in the UK.”

“Ian Stopps brought considerable international experience to Raytheon UK and has made an important contribution to developing the company’s stakeholder relationships, business strategy and growth over the last four years. Ian will be missed by the company’s leadership team and we wish him every success for the future,” continued Daniel.

Sir Richard worked for the British Government as head of the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) Defence and Security Organisation (DSO) from 2008 to 2015. He broadened DSO’s support to the defence industry by developing new international markets and in 2013 achieved a record of £13 billion in sales. Prior to the Civil Service, Sir Richard worked with BP in a wide variety of international locations and functions which included oil trading, capital markets, tanker shipping and gas.
