The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is one of Scotland’s largest and most inclusive modern universities, with campuses in Paisley, Ayr, Lanarkshire, Dumfries, and London, serving over 24,000 students with over 150 nationalities.  UWS has been named The Times and The Sunday Times Scottish University of the Year for Social Inclusion 2026. UWS actively contributes to the aerospace, defence, security, and space sectors through its applied research, degree programmes and industry partnerships. The University’s School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences leads research in aircraft structures, aerodynamics, propulsion, and sustainable aviation, alongside the delivery of BEng/MEng Aerospace Engineering programmes that prepare graduates for civil and defence aviation roles. 
 
In the security domain, UWS delivers Cyber Security degrees and professional training that develop workforce skills in digital forensics, ethical hacking, and network defence—supporting the UK’s national cyber resilience. UWS also participates in Trusted Research initiatives, promoting responsible research practices and safeguarding sensitive and dual-use technologies. 
 
Through research excellence, innovation, and close collaboration with government, industry, and international partners, UWS plays an active role in advancing the UK’s aerospace, defence, security, and space capabilities.
