SWL Rope, Lifting & Testing Ltd was originally incorporated in 1990 and, following a merger in February 2008, adopted its current name; since then, the company has expanded significantly through the acquisition of Lloyds Beal Ltd, an organisation with a 220 year heritage, and the formation of two additional businesses, SWP Compressed Air Services Ltd and Lloyds Ships Safety Services Ltd, establishing SWL as one of the largest independent companies of its kind in the UK, supported by accreditation to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
 
SWL provides a comprehensive range of services including the hire and sale of lifting, rigging, chandlery, manual handling and height safety equipment, alongside the repair and testing of hydraulic equipment and overhead travelling cranes, as well as destructive and non destructive testing. We deliver statutory LOLER Thorough Examinations and PUWER inspections on site through our team of 18 LEEA qualified engineers, and we design, manufacture and install bespoke height safety systems, overhead cranes and gantry systems. SWL is approved by Lloyd’s Register, RINA and DNV to inspect and renew shipboard Life Saving Appliances, and we offer extensive load testing capabilities of up to 700 tonnes on site and up to 100 tonnes in house for both compression and tensile testing.

We have 4 depots based across the South of England and can provide national coverage if required. Most depot’s have a large range of equipment for rental or sale  with minimal lead times and assurance of quality
