Oxford Dynamics is a UK-headquartered defence technology company building agentic AI orchestration and embodied autonomy systems. These systems connect strategic command intent to action at the tactical edge across C4ISR environments. Its core platform, AVIS (A Very Intelligent System), is a multi-agent decision orchestration layer that fuses multi-modal data, builds mission context, generates decision-ready Courses of Action, and tasks autonomous and semi-autonomous effectors in contested, bandwidth-denied, and air-gapped environments, while keeping humans in the meaningful loop.
Digital AI: AVIS is the decision-orchestration lead within the British Army’s ASGARD programme, integrating sensors, C2 systems and autonomous assets into a unified, human-governed framework.
In 2025, AVIS supported the UK Strategic Defence Review (SDR), synthesising 2.5 million words across 8,000 documents.
AVIS can be deployed in the cloud, hybrid or completely air-gapped for operation up to TS level to deliver sovereign, explainable decision advantage across multi-domain operations.
Physical AI: Edge-compute variants of AVIS extend orchestration into the physical domain through modular robotic systems for CBRN, EOD and ISR missions. These enable autonomous systems to sense, decide and act in complex, beyond-line-of-sight environments. Products such as STRIDER bring new autonomous capabilities in removing humans from being first on scene in CBRN incident response, whilst BARBARIAN uses AVIS’ multi-modal sensing capabilities to achieve higher accuracy Explosive Ordnance Detection (EOD) and remediation.
Oxford Dynamics signed a Strategic Partnership & Investment Agreement with BAE Systems in Q2, 2025, providing BAE with a minor, non-controlling stake in OD. The agreement provides BAE access to OD’s cutting-edge agentic AI capabilities to enhance its existing portfolio of digital products, plus the opportunity to co-develop new products together, whilst OD gains a global footprint for its innovative technologies.
