Company Profile
CAV Systems is a leading provider of ice protection systems and drag reduction technology to general aviation, commercial aerospace and defence markets worldwide.
With over 80 years in the industry, the company’s history can be traced back to 1942, when one of its proprietary technologies – TKS® was developed to tackle the issue of icing on WW2 aircraft. TKS® is global market leader; a high-performing anti-ice and de-ice protection system installed to keep aircraft safe when in icing conditions.
Today, CAV remains the only global supplier of fluid-based ice protection systems and the foremost supplier of laser perforated surfaces.
CAV has grown significantly. The company exports over 90% of its products and provides design, manufacturing, and consultancy services. Over 10,000 aircraft, including over 100 aircraft variations, are fitted with its ice protection systems.
In addition to ice protection, CAV has worked directly to cut drag reduction on commercial aircraft. Its elimination reduces the power required, reduces emissions by 1000 tons of C02 per year, and increases an aircraft’s capable load to allow it to travel further.
Our areas of specialism include: testing, government approvals, component qualification, electrical system design, reliability, safety analysis, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, quality, training, manufacturing design and integration.
