#SMEsuccess: Denroy Plastics – NATEP

Based in Northern Ireland, Denroy Plastics provides injection moulding services and associated
assemblies to the aerospace and defence industries. The company has developed products which reduce weight, costs and streamline the manufacturing process for aircraft through converting metal components and assemblies to plastic.

Denroy Plastics participates in the AGP’s National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) project: Modular Galley for Assembly, which is developing a modular design concept for aircraft galleys. The modular concept enables a simplified manufacturing and assembly process.

Denroy Group Chairman, John Rainey, said: “As a result of a National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) R&D grant offered by Invest Northern Ireland, we are working to deliver new Aircraft Galley Technology to one of Europe’s leading aerospace interior companies”.

Denroy Plastics is also part of an AGP NATEP collaborative project, called Causeway Aero, which is comprised of other Northern Ireland-based companies including BASE, Moyola Precision Engineering, Dontaur Precision Engineering and Hutchinson Aerotech. Together they provide a full design and manufacturing solution for international aerospace companies.

Causeway Aero was offered more than £95,000 under NATEP, through Invest Northern Ireland’s Grant for R&D, which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Economy Minister Simon Hamilton MLA commented, “Causeway Aero offers innovative and cost effective solutions to Aerospace Primes and Tier Ones, and represents a new approach which will strengthen Northern Ireland Aerospace as a whole and at individual company level.”

Representing Causeway Aero, John Rainey, said: “The network has been working together for the past 16 months to identify opportunities to add value to potential supply chain partnerships with major aerospace companies by demonstrating how we can help reduce costs and improve flexibility and delivery”.
