The contract, including extensions, spans a duration of five years.

Serco is the sole provider for this contract and will be responsible for delivering full support to the major elements of the EUMETSAT Corporate IT environment and infrastructure. This includes system administration support to desktops and Microsoft applications, as well as the EUMETSAT data centre. The service activities focus on both the routine operation and maintenance of existing infrastructure, as well as the evolution and enhancement of the EUMETSAT IT environment to meet future needs.

Serco already provides first- and second-level IT Service Desk services to EUMETSAT. With the addition of the new IT Data Centre and Infrastructure Service, Serco will also provide third line and back-end support, covering the full range of services from help desk resolution and service desk delivery to in-depth technical support and expert product and service support.

"We are proud to be supporting the crucial work of EUMETSAT through a wide range of space support services," said Guido Vingione, Business Development Director for space in Europe. "Looking after EUMETSAT's IT Data Centre and infrastructure is a new and key mission for us, and we will commit to delivering it with excellence."

Serco already provides a wide range of services to EUMETSAT, including real time satellite operations services to all the satellite constellations in EUMETSAT and other engineering activities supporting the satellite and ground operations.

Serco has over 40 years' experience in supporting the space sector, including more than 50 customer space missions.
