On Friday 24th April, NPAS Fixed Wing crew provided aerial support as part of Operation Akalat, helping officers locate and track bikes linked to dangerous riding, vehicle crime and wider criminality that has a negative impact on local communities.

Using wide?area aerial coverage, NPAS crews were able to identify multiple bikes in real time and guide officers on the ground, helping them take enforcement action safely and effectively.

This included monitoring bikes concealed in open land as well as supporting vehicle follows across urban areas.

The operation resulted in:

15 bikes seized
17 people stopped or questioned
Several bikes confirmed as stolen

Officers involved said the outcome far exceeded expectations, demonstrating the value of combining NPAS’ aerial capability with local policing activity.
