CyberSIPS Doncaster - Success
A very successful new coffee morning at Highfield Coffee Social for the the very first cyber security focused event in Doncaster, called CyberSIPs Doncaster. This was hosted by Guy Kramer, and was sponsored Cyber Intelligence & Advisory Ltd as a local Doncaster company (ADS Member).
A couple of highlights:
- 17 attendees (inc industry newcomers, no cyber experience to industry professionals)
- +2 specific business opportunities/leads from events
- More thank 20 new local connections between attendees
The agenda covered an update on the cyber threat landscape, policy changes in UK for business resilience and government (DSIT) ambition to grow the UK cyber industry.
Later with on Supply Chain Risk inc Doncaster Airport (DSA) the Holtec's SMR factory for Doncaster and the planned Doncaster Tech Hub. These are great initiatives for the local economy and prosperity, however it does mean local SMB and Micro businesses need greater awareness to mitigate the increased risk that hacktivists, cyber criminal and nation-state pose to them. Outcomes
- CyberSIPs Doncaster is a non-profit initiative, sponsor required to cover event space etc
- Run events on a quarterly basis going forward
- Event to be run on a morning, and approx 2hrs is a good duration
- Continue to be inclusive for people with an interest and zero cyber experience, through to professionals
- Next event themed on AI (Governance)
