Traditionally held in London, the conference will be virtual this year as it continues to support essential knowledge sharing and industry-wide networking.
At the 2020 conference, Babcock discussed it’s Type 31 design and build programme along with the company’s in-service support innovation and capabilities. Twelve months on, Ian Cowper, Engineering and Support Director will share how innovation benefits end-to-end digitally enabled support solutions across customer platforms.
Surface Warships 2021 will focus on three critical elements: Future Operations, Future Technologies and Future Force Structures. Babcock will demonstrate how it is tackling industry challenges to drive a future-ready naval capability and address the themes of modernisation and acquisition, innovation, and operations across the spectrum of surface combatants.
Babcock’s collaborative approach, integrating people, processes and technology is a differentiator in delivering mobile, remote and connected technology. The team will present prime examples of how traditional engineering partners with technology and innovation to drive system improvements and cost benefits for customers through its Arrowhead 140 and iSupport360 programmes, as well as highlighting the benefits of digital twins and much more.
Ian Cowper, said: “The digital thread is critical. Knowing that our customer journey is changing allows us the agility to go on that journey with them in novel ways. Our holistic lifecycle view of an asset from design to disposal ensures we can exploit technology to address maritime complexity and give customers interactive insight for their critical assets.
“Babcock’s investment in technology, digital processes and our people skills means we can support customers with more informed and advanced decision making, and provide a better understanding of materials state risk. That, along with our technical authorities drives efficiency and value to meet the operational and support challenges.”
Strengthening Babcock’s commitment to innovation and technology, Neil Young, Technology Director, is presenting at Team Defence Information’s virtual Defence Sustainability Conference 2021 this week to share how Babcock is delivering a sustainable future in defence.
