This webinar will give UK industry an overview of the Spanish defence ecosystem, working with Spanish MOD and an overview of opportunities at the upcoming FEINDEF exhibition on May 18-21 2027.
Key opportunities in the Spanish defence market
Spain’s defence market presents significant opportunities, underpinned by increased defence spending and a commitment to meeting NATO capability targets. In 2025, Spain achieved the 2% of GDP target and is set to increase this to 2.1% in 2026, with the defence budget projected to reach ~€36 billion.
The Spanish defence ecosystem is comprised of circa 400 domestic companies, it remains relatively specialised, creating an attractive environment for business-to-business collaboration and partnerships. The markets reliance on imported raw materials and technologies highlights the need for dependable overseas partners, positioning UK suppliers as preferred collaborators to strengthen supply chains and mitigate risks. Export accounts for 70% of production, with nearly a third linked to collaborative projects, thereby offering scope for international joint ventures.
Particular areas of opportunity are high-value components for a range of defence systems, with additional focus on air defence and counter-unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS).
