Following our September briefing on the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS), ADS is running 1-2-1 online application clinics with the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (DBIST) to support members through the application process.
Held online so members across the country can take part, the clinics give you the chance to put practical questions to the DBIST team as you prepare your submission, ahead of the application window closing on 30 November 2026. Whether you've started your application or are still gathering documentation, the sessions are designed to help you submit with confidence.
What the clinics can help with:
- Documentation requirements and acceptable evidence
- How relief calculations work
- Understanding the application process and what to prepare
- General queries around submitting your application.
Please note: the DBIST team won't be able to comment on the eligibility of individual businesses or review specific applications, but they can offer guidance on the process, documentation and related matters.
The scheme applies to Great Britain only, as energy policy is largely devolved in Northern Ireland. To check whether your site(s) may be eligible, use the BICS eligibility checker here, and consult the eligible SIC and HS codes here.
Who should attend:
Aerospace and defence manufacturers who are preparing, or considering, a BICS application — particularly energy-intensive SMEs and Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers. We'd encourage members to view the September briefing first for a full overview of the scheme.
