This week (8-14 February) is National Apprenticeship Week in England.

The UK’s Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space industries are at the forefront of providing high quality training and development. Companies in these sectors provide thousands of apprenticeships every year, offering routes into exciting and high-tech, high-skill, high-wage careers. These apprentices make a valuable contribution to manufacturing, with many of them working on world-leading technologies.

This year’s theme is Build the Future, and there has never been a more important time to focus on building the core skills of the next generation through apprenticeships.

Many of our members have faced a difficult time over the last year due to the impact of Coronavirus, yet they have shown unwavering commitment to apprentices and fostering the talent of the next generation.

As we look towards the path of recovery for our sectors, ensuring we build the right skills will be essential for us to rebound and come back stronger. Apprentices will be instrumental in solving some of the biggest challenges we currently face such as sustainable aviation and emerging complex security threats.
