This workshop provides an up-to-date overview of the UK innovation incentives and reliefs landscape for aerospace and defence businesses. It will explore what has changed in recent years (and what hasn’t) across key tools such as R&D tax relief, grants and Patent Box, with a particular focus on how these apply in complex, contracted and supply-chain-led environments. Designed for SMEs and suppliers, the session will help ADS members understand how current rules are being interpreted in practice, where scrutiny has increased, and how to plan ahead with greater confidence in an evolving policy landscape.

Following this workshop, ForrestBrown’s expert team will offer confidential 1-to-1 clinics for attendees. These sessions will provide guidance suited to businesses based on their financial profile, commercial objectives and other factors.

These sessions will be particularly relevant for businesses asking:
  • Are we carrying out engineering or technical development as part of customer or prime-led contracts - and does any of this qualify for R&D tax relief?
  • Are we clear who bears the technical risk and controls IP in contracted-out R&D across the supply chain?
  • Have we assumed R&D tax relief isn’t available because our work is customer funded?
  • Do we own patented aerospace, defence or dual-use IP and generate profits from it - and could Patent Box be relevant?
  • Are we using grants and tax relief strategically, or only reacting to opportunities as they arise?
