The National Audit Office has today published its report "Improving value for money in non-competitive procurement of defence equipment". The report makes recommendations to the Ministry of Defence and Single Source Regulations Office.

ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said:

“To deliver better value for taxpayers and ensure a fair return for defence suppliers, the Government should develop a more flexible and collaborative approach to procurement, forming stronger long-term partnerships with industry.

“The UK defence industry offers both world-class capability and ever-improving productivity, while providing 140,000 jobs in communities right across the country. It is important defence procurement takes account of local economic and industrial impacts.

“Industry is keen to engage with the SSRO and the MOD to address future challenges, and to make sure the sector continues to supply our Armed Forces with the best in cutting edge technology that enhances our national security.”
