Responding to the extension of the Job Retention Scheme announced today by the Chancellor, ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said:

“Aviation and aerospace are among the sectors worst affected by the crisis and the period of new travel restrictions starting today will deepen and prolong the challenges these major UK industries face.

“Extending the Job Retention Scheme is a welcome step that will help employers to sustain vital highly skilled jobs in every part of the UK.

“The Government must now work quickly to put a resilient testing-based system in place that enables international travel and reduces the need for traveller quarantine.

“By doing so we can ensure public safety, while giving UK aviation and aerospace the chance to begin a recovery that is essential for our national prosperity and to protect tens of thousands of jobs for the long-term.”
