On Thursday 20 July, the Government announced that the Cabinet Office is to lead additional work to review national security capabilities, supporting ongoing implementation of the 2015 National Security Strategy (NSS) and Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR).

The work will be led by Mark Sedwill, the National Security Adviser.

Responding to the announcement, ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said:

“The UK needs a world-class defence and security industry that can work with the Government to respond to rapidly evolving threats in an increasingly complex international security environment.

“Industry has a key role to play in using its wide-ranging skills and expertise to help the Government identify and assess national security risks, and improve the capabilities available to respond to them. We stand ready to support this Cabinet Office review and help make sure the Strategic Defence and Security Review published in 2015 is implemented as efficiently and effectively as possible.”
