Connect 2 Cleanrooms assembles solution for MacTaggart Scott
After MacTaggart Scott (Loanhead, Midlothian) was awarded a new contract for a product with cleanroom requirements, a review of the existing process and facility prompted the firm to consider opportunities for a new cleanroom.
Connect 2 Cleanrooms was appointed because of its capability to provide a bespoke solution and integrated cleanroom lifecycle support. It helped MacTaggart Scott to understand the requirements of the ISO Cleanroom Standard and to build an appropriate User Requirement Specification (URS).
For the assembly of precision machine parts and bearings, clients expect cleanroom production and the new ISO Class 7 facility is now opening up more opportunities through improved quality and cleanliness.
The review of the process has also generated additional efficiencies and MacTaggart Scott is now benefitting from reduced overall costs and increased process confidence.

Cleanroom lifecycle: fit-out, training and validation
The cleanroom training that Connect 2 Cleanrooms delivered has increases awareness of how usage can affect contamination and has prompted the introduction of new kitting boxes for the cleanroom and workshops to reduce cross contamination.
MacTaggart Scott also now benefit from an effective cleanroom change area layout, purchasing a variety of items from Cleanroomshop – from a step over bench to cleanroom clothing. The step over bench works as a physical barrier, as well as providing storage and helping operators to apply overshoes safely. Coat hooks allow the efficient and accessible storage of Tyvek gowns in the change area.
Keeping compliant during operation
MacTaggart Scott invested in a particle counter, to meet its customer requirement of conducting weekly particle counts.
Connect 2 Cleanrooms will continue to support MacTaggart Scott’s compliance to ISO standards with a five year service contract, including annual validation visits and emergency call out cover for peace of mind.
