ADS Digital Cabin – an innovative route to market for aircraft interiors SMEs

The UK has delivered ground-breaking and influential aircraft interiors designs over the years. It’s this innovative spirit and capability that motivated ADS, to create its Digital Cabin: a virtual interiors capability showcase. ADS Aerospace Business Development lead, Reuben Gomez, will be attending Aircraft Interiors Expo 2022 in June to meet with Cabin interiors buyers and present the Digital Cabin.

ADS Digital Cabin – a 3D marketplace

Using 3D Web-GL technology, we have created a virtual aircraft cabin space where aircraft interiors companies can showcase their products and services to a global audience. OEMs and airline buyers can engage with the products in a new and immersive way.

Reuben Gomez – ADS Business Development lead says: “We’re excited to offer this tool for cabin and MRO buyers to explore the market. 3D web technology brings the cabin to life and allows SMEs to market themselves in a way that’s cost effective, fresh and engaging.”

From pioneering seat concepts to advanced electronics, lighting, and expert contract manufacturers, leading companies from across the UK and Ireland are featured within the cabin including full cabin experiences from Airtek, TT Electronics and STG Aerospace.

Being able to view the comprehensive range of manufacturers virtually, on a single website offers a unique and convenient marketplace. The website and social media profiles will also inform on new launches, innovative new features and company news for each of the exhibiting suppliers.

Easy access to the Digital Cabin

The Digital Cabin is accessed via a standard web page and can be viewed online on computer, tablet or mobile device. The computer graphics enable users to look into a realistic cabin. By navigating around using the hot spots users can browse the different products such as seats, galleys and lighting. Products are also indexed and text-searchable.

ADS Marketing & Engagement Manager, Nicola Green, says “3D visualisation helps build customer confidence and is playing an increasingly important role in the sales process. It is more compelling than a static image. Buyers can see the products in situ, at scale and from all angles which helps for more complex products. The UK is world-leading in its innovative aerospace products and I’m delighted that we are able to leverage 3D technology to help UK SMEs reach a global marketplace.

Enhancing the sales process

The digital cabin has been created to support the existing sales process for exhibiting companies rather than replacing it. Collaborating in the digital cabin offers an opportunity for SMEs to utilise the new technology without the high development costs associated with doing something new.

Each exhibitor has their own information page. Users can interact with products in 3D and link to technical specifications, videos and sales contacts 24/7 – greatly enhancing the bandwidth of exhibiting companies. The  pages can also sit within an iframe on the individual exhibitor’s website.

Companies can use the tool during their sales conversations directly leading to orders or more passively from the website. Both are strong ways to get customers to understand the product more and offer a more B2C-like customer experience.
