WHAT IS THE ENGINEERING STANDARDS COMMITTEE (ESC)?

The Engineering Standards Committee promotes standardisation by initiating and co-ordinating the interface between industry and National, European and International Standards bodies; to improve the competitiveness of the UK Aerospace Industry.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE GROUP?

The primary role of the Engineering Standards Committee is to promote standardisation in order to improve the competitiveness of the UK Aerospace Industry.

The group acts to maintain a formal interface between ADS and international Standards Development Organisations (SDOs).

It assists ADS member companies in any matters associated with standardisation policy.

The committee supports the various ASD-STAN committees in the production of aerospace standards to meet UK Aerospace Industry requirements.

It also promotes awareness of environmental issues of materials and processes.

The group identifies UK industry experts to represent ADS at various ASD-Stan and BSI committee levels. 

HOW DO I JOIN?

This group generally operates at the more strategic level and has more specific criteria for joining and limited vacancies for members to apply for. If you are interested and request to join a Board or Committee it will require further follow up from the group owner to confirm vacancies and suitability. 

If you are interested to join, please send a request to the ESC Secretariat: Ed.Raggett@adsgroup.org.uk (indicating in the Subject field of the email "ESC - Request to join the Committee"), providing the below information:

  • Which sector is your company related to?
  • How did you become aware of the ESC group and how are you linked to the members?
  • What will you be able to contribute in terms of knowledge and experience to the group?

It is not mandatory that committee members are ADS members however, it is preferred.
