Vector Aerospace UK provides cost-effective military and civil Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services for rotary and fixed wing aircraft. It is part of Vector Aerospace Corporation; a major international supplier of aviation MRO services. The parent company is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has subsidiaries in Australia, France, South Africa, America and the UK. Vector became a member of Airbus Group (formerly EADS) in June 2011 when it was acquired by Eurocopter Holdings.
Vector Aerospace UK enjoys a long-term association with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Over the past decade it has delivered crucial MRO support to the MOD’s fleets of Chinook, Lynx and Sea King helicopters, deploying its highly skilled and experienced workforce both in the UK and in theatre. The excellence of the company’s performance is evidenced by both Gold and Silver awards from Boeing, as well as Citations from Joint Helicopter Command.
The company’s UK footprint is built around two state-of-the-art facilities formerly owned by the Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA); its Fleetlands site located in Gosport, Hampshire and its complimentary counterpart at Almondbank in Perthshire. The former specialises in airframe and engine services, the latter in aerospace component and composite repair.
Although Vector Aerospace UK continues to expand upon its significant military sector capabilities, the company is also developing its position in civil markets, capitalising on the flexible nature of its highly trained workforce. Vector continues to establish strong working relationships and licence approvals with global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Rolls-Royce, whilst adding to a comprehensive list of airworthiness accreditations and quality assurance credentials from regulators such as the European Aviation Safety Agency. Fleetlands has won approval as a Sikorsky Customer Support Centre, while momentum in the civil sector has been further increased by the opening of a Composite Services Centre in Almondbank. Almondbank is also strategically placed to serve the North Sea oil and gas sector.
EASA part 21 G and M accredited, Vector Aerospace UK will secure EASA part 21 J approval in 2014, further enhancing its strong civil MRO proposition. A commitment to lean operating processes, employee investment – including long-standing apprenticeship schemes – and technical excellence ensure that Vector Aerospace UK’s proposition continues to diversify, enhancing its extensive client portfolio and living up to its claim of ‘Setting the standard of customer excellence’.
