Government have made available a series of slide packs on key topics that have been a particular concern for members in the initial months of 2021.

RULES OF ORIGIN

The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy have made a slide pack, which goes through the required steps to comply with Rules of Origin:

  1. Classify your good
  2. Understand whether your good meets the applicable rule of origin
  3. Understand how to demonstrate origin to the customs authorities

POINTS BASED IMMIGRATION SYSTEM

The slide deck provided by the Home Office provides a recap on the EU Settlement Scheme, routes and rights to work in the UK, guidance for visitors and even case studies for those travelling to the UK from further afield, the guidance will be helpful to  those wishing to work or employ people in the UK from 1st January 2021.

TRADING WITH THE EU AND NORTHERN IRELAND – SME TOOLKIT

HMG have provided a new summary of actions SMEs may need to take to trade with the EU and Northern Ireland. The document provides an overview of actions to take, outlines support, helplines and resources that may be useful for SMEs, and signposts more detailed guidance on Government websites. TRADER SUPPORT SERVICE (TSS)

Companies trading in or with Northern Ireland have been advised to sign up for the Trade Support Service (TSS) the TSS is designed to help business process new customs requirements. Since its launch there have been a number of common errors, and HMRC have provided a slide pack to help support users.
