UK SMEs play a vital role in our defence and security sales success. The Defence Team work closely with our members to support them through business opportunities both in the UK and overseas, navigating the complex contractual arrangements and ensuring the concerns and challenges they face are addressed through the work of our policy team. According to the UK Government’s latest estimates, the overseas defence market are believed to have been worth some £11bn in 2019 to UK industry, and, on a rolling 10-year average, the UK remained the second largest global defence exporter, behind the USA, with an average market share of nearly 20%.
