Leslie joined ADS in 2010 to establish ADS Northern Ireland, growing membership on the Island from 7 to 117 companies today.
His key priority is to support members and to grow the aerospace, defence, security & space sectors in the region. This is driven through the Northern Ireland Partnering for Growth (NIPG) strategy and implemented by industry and government working groups. Since the launch of the strategy in 2014 revenues for the sectors have grown by 90% to £1.9bn per year.
Leslie works closely with government to bring member value through events, sector promotion, trade missions, introductions, business opportunities and programmes like SC21 Supply Chain Excellence. He facilitates the ADS NI Council and NIPG Working Groups. He also oversees our NI Space Special Interest Group and NI Defence and Security Special Interest Group.
One great passion is for growing skills and engaging young people within the industry. He coordinates the NI Schools Rocketry Challenge and is a steering board Member for the NI Schools Build a Plane project.
Leslie has over 30 years of experience in the engineering industry. Prior to joining ADS, he worked as an engineer in the telecoms industry, in heavy mechanical engineering and in the aerospace industry. He has an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queens University Belfast and a PhD for his pioneering research work at Shorts Bros on Computer Vision and Robotic Riveting of Aerospace Structures.
Born in Brazil, he speaks Portuguese and is a passionate supporter of Brazilian football.
Leslie is based in Belfast at the ADS Northern Ireland Office located in the Bombardier Main Building.
