The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020 and exited the transition period on 31 December. The UK and EU agreed a new deal on their relationship which came into force on 1 January 2021. On 28 April 2021, the European Parliament ratified the post-Brexit EU-UK trade deal, a key move that ensured the new UK-EU deal can be fully implemented.

The agreement and accompanying annexes covers most areas of the UK and EU’s relations, including trade, security, access to EU programmes and managing the agreement in the future.

The new relationships impacts across ADS sectors, and it is important that businesses continue to take all the necessary steps to adapt to the new trading and regulatory environment. Almost one year since the deal between the UK and EU was agreed, there are still some key areas of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) to watch out for:
