To underpin and support sectoral activities in AeroSpace, Defence and Security, A|D|S executes a coherent programme of cross-cutting activities to ensure its members have access to the latest knowledge and tools about the environment and sustainability, supply chain improvement programmes, skills initiatives and technology and innovation.

Environment

Environmental impacts, sustainability and climate change issues are amongst the most important challenges facing A|D|S’s industry sectors; global challenges requiring global solutions. A|D|S’s environment programme supports member companies to help ensure they continue to play an active role in a range of initiatives, both at home and abroad.

21st Century Supply Chains

Continued supply chain improvement is critical to the continued performance and global competitiveness of UK industry. SC21, which aims to accelerate that improvement, is a key programme overseen by A|D|S.

Skills

A|D|S is heavily involved in implementing sector skills agreements to ensure employer commitments and Government actions are delivered. A|D|S works closely with its regional partners, reaching out to many SMEs who would not otherwise be able to connect with skills providers, which provides increasing coherence between regional and national action on skills for A|D|S’s sectors.

Technology

Technology is arguably the bedrock of A|D|S’s sectors. Numerous technologies span multiple sectors, and so A|D|S’s technology programme is integral within and pervades across its sector-based activities. Outcomes of the programme range from ensuring research, technology and innovation are at the heart of policy formation, through to effective promotion of opportunities to members.
